Hey Ruckers!
Welcome to my little nook in the wild of the web. From infancy i've had an obsession with the outdoors and in 2014 two people, Wildsoul Vee and Dave Murphy [daves wild camping], both showed me the way to the wild. now armed with over a decade of experience, i've decided to share my tales. From the tallest peaks and baron expanses to the beautiful forests, caves and seascapes our world has to offer. follow every contour as we venture into the unknown with the changing seasons in search of wonder and solitude. I won't always get it right but the bruises and scars will forever be my trophies. After all, they tell the tale better than any pen.

Here's to the next ruck

THE LATEST FROM wild rucker

the return to rhinog fawr
the rhinog national nature reserve

Join me for my latest adventure in the wild! We're heading back to Rhinog Fawr 1 year after Hurricane Ernesto forced me to return home. This Fawr truly shows it's fury and on day 2 I had to make a tough decision to abandon my planned descent. Not only are we going to summit, we're going to spend the night in a Bivi Bag underneath the stars! I just wish my tea hadn't been such a disaster!

Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

["Invictus" by William Ernest Henley, written 1920]
